RAC Update due to current adverse weather

The RAC have advised the following due to the current inclement weather.

‘We called a red alert yesterday because of the volume of callers queueing to get through for their breakdowns. Not only were we busy due to weather but Bescot was impacted by very bad conditions. We have had managers collecting and dropping off colleagues in Landrovers to keep service going. Some colleagues were on site from the very early hours till late.

We’re expecting today to be massively busy and this red alert status means we can relax working constraints but it is also a request for all hands on deck. As such, there are likely to be non system trained colleagues answering calls and taking down details manually. Trained colleagues will then enter the details as required. The underlying message however is the time to attend is going to be impacted and our priorities will be tightly managed based on circumstances. Other parts of the business are likely to be affected too while they support the call centres.

The next few days are very cold – especially overnight – so there will be a long tail on this one we fear.’

As always RAC will do their utmost to meet members needs but I hope this information will help manage expectations. I will, of course, provide further updates as I receive them.
