  • HRH The Countess of Wessex will be among those honouring the 70 police officers nominated for this year’s Police Bravery Awards. The West Midlands nominees for the awards are PCs Ryan Patel and James Neilson who confronted and chased armed robbers. Eight regional winners will be named with one of those being selected as the overall winner for 2017.

  • The judging has now taken place for the 18th Annual Police Bravery Awards. This year’s nominee acts which include officers saving occupants from burning cars and buildings, dramatic river rescues and tackling armed offenders and gangs with knives, screwdrivers and guns; were presided over by a panel of ten which included the president of ACPO, Sir Hugh Orde and Baroness Newlove of Warrington. This year 64 officers have been nominated; all of whom have made an outstanding contribution to policing, acting selflessly to protect others.
