Vast majority of Officers Fit for Duty, says our Interim Chair Tom Cuddeford
Today’s announcement from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) of an eight per cent increase in recorded crime in the last year is alarming, according to Tom Cuddeford, leader of West Midlands Police Federation. But Tom, interim chairman of the Federation branch which represents the Force’s constables, sergeants and inspectors, has welcomed the inclusion of fraud and cybercrime in the figures for the first time.
Just two per cent of officers have failed their fitness test according to figures released by the College of Policing today. The figures show an average pass rate of 98 per cent based on a total of 93,956 tests carried out between September 2014 and August 2015.
This year marks the 13th National Police Memorial Day which will be held at St Paul's Cathedral London on Sunday 25th September 2016. This annual event honours police officers throughout the United Kingdom who have given their lives in the line of duty.
