Crime commissioner David Jamieson welcomed plans to increase welfare support for serving officers and police staff on a visit to the West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund. The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner visited the Fund’s offices at Guardians House last week and heard about its plans for the future.

The Chairman & Deputy Chairman of West Midlands Police Federation have written to the majority of all prospective members of parliament regarding our #CutsHaveConsequences campaign. The letter available to download here, highlights to prospective members of parliament that the West Midlands Police has lost a total of 1,471 police officer posts in the last five years, budget cuts to the force, our campaign and more.
The next West Midlands Police Federation Roadshow is aimed at officers based at Birmingham East but it is open to all members. It is to be held at Stechford Police Station on Thursday 23 April between 10am and 3pm.
Regulations which affect police officer pensions are due to be laid before Parliament by the end of this week.
This affects members who have accrued pension rights relating to other employments before joining the police.
The Federation are currently taking part in ongoing negotiations with the force, CPS and the courts with regard to the issue of officers being called to court on inconvenient dates.
