  • In each edition of Federation, we ask our members about a topical issue. This time we asked: Do you feel enough is done to support officers who are assaulted in the course of their duties? Please explain... Have you been assaulted while on duty? Please explain the circumstances. And do you consider it just part of the job? As a result of the responses received, West Midlands Police Federation is taking remedial action to help the officers who’ve commented, as this perceived weakness is something it is trying to address so that it can best support members.     Officers fear letting down the public as they struggle to get to crime scenes or urgent calls for assistance within the 15-minute target due to the lack of a siren on the 109 Vauxhall Corsa patrol cars, according to West Midlands Police Federation. The Federation’s deputy chairman, Tom Cuddeford, and health and safety lead Pete Harkness have spoken out on the issue and have pledged to work with the Force to find a solution.
