  • PFEW Annual Conference 2016

    Each year the Police Federation holds its annual conference in May, a pivotal event in the policing calendar where representatives from the 43 forces throughout England and Wales, as well as from Scotland, Northern Ireland and overseas, come together to share good practice and debate issues affecting policing. Police Federation Conference 2016 will take place 17 – 19 May at the Bournemouth International Centre. This year we have adopted our current campaign Believe in Blue as our theme and strapline.

    PFEW is being featured in a new ITN documentary entitled ‘Policing for the future’ hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky. The documentary covers issues around firearms, new technologies such as body-worn cameras and safeguarding officers’ wellbeing and mental health. We have a short trailer is now available, the actual full programme will go live from Monday 23 May 2016.

  • Federation roadshow at Solihull

    The next West Midlands Police Federation Roadshow is aimed at officers based at Solihull LPU. It is to be held in the Vanessa Carroll room at Solihull Police Station on Wednesday 11 May between 1000 and 1500.

  • Millie Bea, aged 2 yrs, is the daughter of one of our members, DC Natalie Hughes. Millie has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy and the family are currently fundraising for her to have an operation called SDR (Selective dorsal rhizotomy) which will enable her to walk. Currently she is unable to walk independently. The cost of the operation is approx £40,000 which is not funded on the NHS. Please can I request that you consider donating to this very worthy cause by following the below link.

  • The high-stress nature of the job is driving several police officers to consider suicide, says the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW). Its Welfare Support Programme (WSP), set up by the Police Firearms Officers Association (PFOA) and PFEW, has seen the number of ‘vulnerable and at risk’ officers on its books soar in the 10 months since the scheme started.

  • 10 Point Assaults Plan

    A new ten point plan has been agreed between WMP, Police Federation, Superintendents Association, Unite and Unison to help officers and staff who are assaulted while on duty.
