As you may be aware, in the Autumn statement 2016 the Chancellor announced a further increase in the standard rate Insurance Premium Tax (IPT). This increases the previous standard rate of 10% to 12% and is effective 1st June 2017. Due to this, your monthly premiums to the Federation insurance schemes will increase.
We need you to take a moment to fill in a pay and morale survey – which will be used to inform the Government of your views. From today (Tuesday 18 April) the survey is available to all rank and file officers across the country. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and will remain open until 18 May.
Officers from West Midlands Police Federation will be making a poignant trip to London today for the funeral of PC Keith Palmer. Thousands of police officers and staff, as well as other emergency service workers and members of the public, will line the streets of the capital ahead of the full police service funeral which is being held at 2pm at Southwark Cathedral. PC Palmer was stabbed to death in the Westminster terror attack on 22 March which left four people dead and around 50 people injured, including three other Metropolitan Police officers.

The next West Midlands Police Federation Roadshow will take place at Perry Barr Superblock on Tuesday 23 May in the Atrium between 10am and 3pm. Member services providers will be available to talk to members and discuss the services they can provide.

The Police Federation of England and Wales response: The news that a police officer lost their life, defending the safety of others, has left both colleagues and the public numb. “No words can capture how members of the policing family will feel after today’s horrific events,” Steve White, Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said.
West Midlands Police Federation’s interim chairman has expressed his sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Metropolitan Police officer Keith Palmer who was killed in the Westminster terror attack yesterday.
