27th August 2013
Further to David Winnick's original response (here). He wrote back to Tom Cuddeford regarding a response he has received from Damian Green Minister of state for policing and criminal justice clarifying the Government's position on funding cuts (here).
18th July 2013
Tom Cuddeford wrote a letter to all MP's in the West Midlands regarding West Midlands Police Cuts (Original Letter).
The letter reads as follows:
WEST MIDLANDS POLICE CUTS
Cuts to police funding have already taken £126 million from West Midlands Police, and the recent CSR announcement will mean we lose over £20 million more. These cuts have hit West Midlands Police doubly hard because our low policing precept means that West Midlands Police is more reliant on central government funding than other forces which charge their residents more. Furthermore, the use of 'damping' means that West Midlands Police has been underfunded for many years - £43 million in this year alone.
Our member's are working tremendously hard, on a daily basis, protecting the communities of the West Midlands, however they need the assistance of your influence and support to continue to provide an effective service, in these very difficult times for Policing.
Please consider how the inequality of the current position can be reduced.
